Speaking of nostalgia

A question for susieq.

JAW Fan wants to know if you are familiar with this series. He has fond memories of seeing it late at night here. Screaming women and alligators. These are the elements of a great t.v. series, in his opinion. I'm reserving judgement.

I loved this Australian mini-series and the tv series that followed (which by the way was campier than the original mini-series.)

The cover to this DVD (which is not available in a North American format) suggests the mini-series is much cheesier than it actually was. But, then, to be fair, the series was really the story of a woman who was tossed to the alligators, survived, had reconstructive surgery which changed her looks, and then had her returning to exact revenge upon the man who threw her to the gators in the first place...Hmm, I guess in actually writing it out, it does sound rather like a Dynasty melodrama (which I loved as well...and which probably comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me!)

What I wouldn't do to be able to experience this treasure once again!

Aah, such sweet memories......

And if only I'd known it was being shown at a cinema here just 18 months ago!!! This is a cinema that shows some strange things......

A google search indicates it is available on DVD here.

I'm not a fan of these sorts of shows, so didn't watch it. Lets face it, we are the country that produced/es Neighbours, Home and Away, The Young Doctors (if you think Return to Eden is bad.....) and Prisoner, known overseas as Cell Block H I believe.

Susieq - what about The Girl From Tomorrow? The CBC showed it years ago here and I loved it. As far as I know, it has never shown in the US nor is it available on DVD here.

Found out the miniseries is available in North American format on e-bay...Safe to say, I will be placing an order shortly...

Now, if I can only get to see the Australian version of "Temptation Island"

I never saw The Girl from Tomorrow but I can confirm that Mr. Anonymous saw it, loved it and has wanted to see it again for years and years.

The Girl from Tomorrow?

This one passed me by! Sorry. Hope the website helps.

Our version of Temptation Island didn't last long due to poor ratings, but apparently the whole series was shown on one of the cable channels. There is no way I would watch that.

Just for the record...The Temptation Island reference was tongue-in-cheek. I wouldn't watch it either (except to see the ultimate depths people will sink to be on TV) It is an atrocious concept for a reality show...I only know of the Australian version, because it was on some channel one night when I was in a hotel room on a business trip.

Of course, as for dumb reality show concepts, that reminds me of "Elimidate"...that was fun to watch, only to see how stupid people are!
