There's no tomorrow

Get out your clichés!

It's do or die for the Azzurri today. It's all or nothing.

Their lovely backs are up against the wall.

My heart is pained to operatic heights.

You've almost got it...but it should read as follows:

Everyone get out your cliché!
It's do or die for the Azzurri today.
Their lovely backs 'gainst the wall so tight
My heart is pained to operatic heights.

...sorry, I'd like to make the following correction:

"my heart is pained to an operatic height"

It just reads and rhymes better.

The Azzurri bring out the poet even in non-soccer fans.

I'm not writing poetry, though, just biting my knuckles dramatically.

Just turned it on in time to see Italy nearly score on themselves, twice. And one of the Romanian guys get carted off the field, apparently dead. Exciting game!

I saw a bit of the first half. A guy sitting near me kept grabbing his head in that "oh no" kind of way.

Good one from the guardian's blogger:
This game continues to be more free-flowing than the Ganges in flood season.
