I'm sure this feeling will change but for now I have no interest in the Olympics. And I'm a Sinophile (is that the word? I mean, I like everything Chinese.) Every time, winter or summer, it's the same story. I'm not interested, and then it starts, and then I'm watching all the time.
Summer's too short to spend 2 weeks in front of the stupid t.v.
This year I'm afraid I'm still too distraught over the demise of Jules et Bertrand (aka Frank and Gordon). I was looking forward to a whole new series of goofy Olympic-themed beaver commercials and now they are gone. Wah!

what they need is a good beheading, then you'd be interested. Mrs. A.
Not Frank and Gordon! Noooo!
But seriously with the violence in China yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a beheading before the Games were over. Copycat crime and huge publicity...
you have to watch the 5 time olympic race walker tim berret of edmonton- the guy's 43 and still walking fast! he's mushroom junior's running coach at school so cheer for him
I feel the same this time - I usually love the Olympics, but can't get enthused this time - a small matter of human rights maybe? No doubt the first Aussie gold medal will change all that!
Be glad you don't have to watch them on American Television. NBC makes even the most interesting athlete profile so schmaltzy and sappy that I find myself rooting for anyone else ratehr than these poor featured people!
But I still get caught up in them. I think it's because these people, while not strictly amatuer anymore certainly appreciate their efforts. Unlike many professional athletes I could name.
oh, we have the schmaltzy stuff too, believe me! Its painful to watch and thats the time the remote gets some action. Besides, its going to be a cold wet weekend and I don't have much on, so why not pop the central heating on and settle back on the sofa and watch some sport! And with only a 2 hour time diff between here and Beijing, for once I don't have to watch stuff into the wee small hours.
That's true. We are the ones who will see nothing live, unless we get up at 3 or 4 in the morning. And I'm not doing that! (Although too often I do wake up at 3 or 4 and can't get back to sleep! Dang middle age.)
