Hockey Riot, I want a riot! Hockey Riot, a riot of my own
Idiots. How embarrassing.
And this, folks, is why the Canadiens should not get past Round 2.

I predicted this in my last Hockey poem...anyway, here's my post-riot poem:
Hockey rioters of this town Should be lined up, then shot down, Or let's take clubs and whack their heads, And keep on whacking till their dead. And anyone who starts a fire, Should be thrown into that pyre, As for all that broken glass, It should be shoved into their ass, I mean, if it's rocks their keen on hurling, Then I suggest they take up curling.
As stupid as rioting over a first round victory is (not that ANY rioting isn't stupid), what is bugging me today is radio commentators who act like (a) we didn't see this coming (b) this is the only city this happens in and we look worse because it's Montreal and this shouldn't be happening here. (I mean, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Stanley_Cup_riot)
Oh it happens everywhere for any reason - it's not a "we win, let's riot!" thing, it's drunk louts using the occasion of a huge gathering on the street to instigate things. The riots in Vancouver in '94 were because they lost. You are blaming the Canadiens and/or their fans for something beyond their control.
Besides, I know about your Canadiens tattoo. You can't fool your readers.
(or are you still holding a grudge that the California Golden Seals are no longer in the league?)

This riot is just so unfair
I was so angry, I mis-spelled "they're"
There's no excuse, I know, I know,
Especially during NaPoMo.

A Montrealer friend of mine said before the game last night -- "we may be seeing Montreal burned down tonight."
Me: "come on, it's Montreal -- they won't riot over just a first-round win."
Whoops!

JAW, you are really wasting your time in your real job.
Anon, don't most cities wait to actually win a championship before going mental? When someone asked me today why this happens, I said: Gaulic blood.
