Americans are baffling

I'll fully admit that I don't understand the American love affair with guns. Why does a person need a dozen weapons in their home? I don't know.

But now they seem to be all going nuts because they don't want the government to cover their health care expenses. It is indeed very puzzling.

Why are they so attached to the "right" to be screwed over by private insurance companies? Do they sincerely believe that some pencil-pusher in a big insurance company has only their best interests at heart?

And do they really believe that pinko socialist regimes like Canada actually have panels that decide that old people are not worth treating and must be left to die? Do they really believe this? If so, how? How can they believe this?

And that guy yesterday in New Hampshire, standing on the church lawn, with his loaded gun? It made me think, once again, that Obama won't live to see the end of his first term.

As an American...these people are f'ing looney and I can't figure them out either.

Oh and I don't own any guns. I'm not opposed to gun ownership but do wonder alot about people who seems to have quite an arsenal and act like that's normal.

I chalk it up to scare tactics by the right. Some people CAN be fooled all time.

This just reminds me of the two grey-haired women who sat next to us at a table in a Puerto Vallartan restaurant...Upon discovering they were American, my travelling companion made an off-the-cuff pro-Obama statement...of course, had he known they were from Texas before opening his mouth, we would have avoided the entire conversation that ensued...how Obama wanted to take their guns away and the perceived problems with the Canadian health system. Part of their argument was that they don't want have to wait months before receiving an operation and would rather pay for quick service. I explained that everyone doesn't have money to spend on an operation...The concept seemed kind of foreign to these two women.

how about the preacher who my friend met in MD when they were camping. He had like 7 kids with him and over smoares he asks "so where do you keep your gun?" He was flabergasted that my friend would even THINK of camping without a gun. Funny, I'd be kinda mortified to have one of those kids, say, find and use that gun.

Coming from a country with a national health system (but with the option of private health insurance too) I am totally mystified at what is happening in America right now, but then, I could probably make that statement most of the time about our friends in the USA!

Of course, that fruit loop Sarah Palin chipped in with her 'death panel' statement - how smart was that? And she fancies herself as President?? Well, they elected Reagan and George W twice, so anythings possible I guess.

I pity sane people like LLJ!

Camping with a gun is useful if there are bears around. I'm sure that's what the arms-bearing camper believed. Right? On the other hand, if your friend had gotten up to pee in the night and the other camper thought he was a bear, well, them's the breaks! There's much to be said for bladder control when camping in the USA. It might save your life.

True, but perhaps just don't go there in the first place!
